About House of M.A.N.
Not long after my wife Judy gave birth to our third son, my sister noticed their names formed the acronym
“M.A.N.” and so she christened our little home “House of M.A.N.” Remembering the 1960's TV series my
brother found humour in sending my boys mail by addressing it to “M.A.N. From Uncle”. So, when I decided
to venture into my own business it didn't take long to come up with a name. The name “House of M.A.N.”
came to mind.
When I started my company people would often ask me, “What does M.A.N. stand for?” Some though it
sounded a little “chauvinistic”. I would reply, “It's an acronym for my sons, Mathew, Andrew and Nathan.” I
would tell people... "That's who I work for.”
Although that's still true, the dynamics of my family have changed since 1997. My three sons have all but
left the nest. Two are now beginning their own families. On May 10, 2011, I became a grandfather for the
first time – to a beautiful little girl. After years of male domination in the House of M.A.N. Judy is delighted
to now see a balance of estrogen in our family.
My Testimony
I don’t know where the saying originated but I heard it said that, “God wants spiritual fruit, not religious
nuts.” To that end, I am not here to preach to you but simply let you know from Whom I derive my strength.
Growing up I loved to serve others because it felt good. Then I learned to serve others by loving God and it
felt “Awesome!”
They say hindsight is 20-20. Well, looking back over my life, I've seen the hand of
God at work. Times when the Holy Spirit lead me, danced with me or comforted me.
When I ran ahead of Him he waited patiently. Then time and again He came to my
rescue.
My faith has always been important to me and prayer has been in the forefront. I am
reminded of the words from the hymn What a Friend we have in Jesus:
Are we weak and heavy-laden,
Cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Saviour, still our refuge—
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
When it comes to work scripture is clear:
Hebrews 13:5 (ESV) Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he
has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” Thankfully God has NOT filled my wants and desires but
graciously and abundantly met my needs.
I also thank Jesus for introducing me to my wife Judy. He blesses her with the patience to overlook my
short-comings and boundless love for her family. Over the years Judy has gone from provider, to
homemaker and back again. She is now the full time provider of our family's income, allowing me to
minister as a deacon with the Anglican Network in Canada.
Finally I thank God for the opportunity to continue to serve the community through St. Aidan's Ministries and
pastor a church plant called St. Aidan's at Rivers Bend here in Belle River. Our parent church is St. Aidan’s
Anglican Church (ANiC) in Windsor.
I’m not an expert by any stretch of the imagination but if you have questions about “God stuff” I would count
it a joy to share with you what I know and/or find the answers you seek.
I leave you with a little advice and a blessing. In times of joy and celebration, stand and make a joyful noise
– Praise the Lord our God. In times of trials or temptation, drop to your knees in prayer to the Author and
Creator of your life.
Numbers 6:24-26 (ESV) The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you and
be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.
In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
